A series of gold bracelets adorned her arm, glowering as she worked on the knitting, units in a grid. My great-grandmother, Astrid Ellingsen, dedicated her life as a knit designer and was a pioneer in Icelandic knitting design. Grandma was a big character, colorful and glamorous person. She deduced every detail from units, and out of them emerged a pattern which can be resembled as a family tree.

A journey where narrative is conveyed through the use of colors and shapes. A piece turns into a graphic form, therefore a new feel for knitting pattern is created. But how? Whereas I perceive the patterns as shapes, she saw them as pieces. By extending her units, there is unity, and a new whole emerges.

My interpretation of her life's journey. Grandma's units continue to grow, regenerate, and live.

Farvegir og Form                                                                             Poster                                                                                                       10–12–2023

The poster depicts a visual exploration of my BA thesis. My design is derived from a chapter discussing the impact of Edward Bernays on the 20th century, based on the theories of Sigmund Freud, as well as the connection between design and psychology, and how methods were used to control the masses. The idea of turning desires into cravings. The theory that people's desires overshadow their needs, and the focal point of changing this mentality was the lifelong work of Edward Bernays by implementing Sigmund Freud's psychological theories (1856-1939). Bernays coined the term "Propaganda." The term was long considered negative because Germans used it during wartime, so he coined another term with the same meaning; Public Relations.

FF 284 306 23 was the name of the exhibition. The pathways and forms are based on the content and research material of the BA thesis of third-year students in graphic design at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. The publication is a part of shedding light on the research, delving into it, and exploring various threads of the theses and possibilities in visual presentation. The topics are explored through different media, and appropriate color schemes are found. The outcome can also be seen in the book "Pathways and Forms," which this time consists of 384 pages.

I led the exhibition design alongside my classmates. The name was inspired by the color Pantone FF 284, which we chose for both the book and the poster. The book contains 306 pages and was published in 2023. My contributions to this team project included designing the exhibition's branding, creating the video commercials, and subsequently shaping our poster design.

Airwaves> Rebrand                                                                    Motion Graphic / Exhibition.                                                        07–10–2023

This school project involved rebranding the music festival Iceland Airwaves, which takes place in Iceland in October. Throughout the process, I asked myself: "In cold, grey weather outside, how can we bring people together?" My approach to the project centered mainly on reminding people to simply enjoy the moment and reconnecting with the festival's original essence. People come in different shapes and colors, contributing to the colorful diversity of the world. However, what do we all share in common? The desire to dance and listen to music—to revel in the present moment.

The shapes derived from the typeface represent people of various shapes and forms. The concept behind this design is that these shapes react to sound and are incorporated into the background of each concert at the festival. This design aims to evoke a visceral response, encouraging people to dance and engage with the music.

Visualization of a quote                                                                                    Poster                                         2021

In my opinion, whenever people read, see or hear the quote „let's talk,”
I imagine their mind at that moment overthinking, stressed,  confused
and unable to control their thoughts.

In this project I wanted to draw attention to the fact that we all think differently. One of the ways I communicated this was through the square format of my book, which reflects how we do not all fit into the same box.
